Reflections for the new year

Writer's picture: Renee LeemingRenee Leeming

Thinking about the year. It was HUGE for our fam, how about yours?

I thought I’d share my unfiltered reflections with you, maybe you’ll take some time to reflect too. I feel like it’s helpful to do this so we can see the things we can take with us as we grow into the new year, and see what we can leave behind.

I know setting fire to the entire year seems like a great idea and you can do that but also, please take whatever goodness you can from it first.

Things I’ve learned, again.

• We can do really hard things. • Make the effort to do things that bring joy, even when it seems hard. • The art of looking after myself needs refining and practicing and is really important. • It’s helpful to allow emotion to flow through and out of my body (i.e let tears flow 😊) • My worth isn’t based on my performance, measured in kilograms or demonstrated by how productive I am.

Things to remember:

• Time with people brings me joy. • When things get tough, remember to communicate. • Stay open and curious, especially around toddlers. • Gratitude is truly helpful in changing perspective and mood. • Make good assumptions about people.

Things I’m grateful for:

• That we are here. That we exist and get to experience goodness. • My husband. He has had A YEAR & He is bloody amazing – full of grit, full of kindness, full of patience & full of love. • My girls. • My friends – true, absolute legends. • People are good and have really big hearts. • The beach & returning to my happy place. • Our ability to grow & learn and move forward and forget and reimagine. • Flowers, I really love flowers.

What about you, what are three takeaways for you this year?
