Anxious & overwhelmed? Try this.

I don’t know about you but sometimes when I’m feeling overwhelmed or anxious, the first thing I want to do is retreat into a little bubble. The bubble has me and my stories in it, it has my perspective and mine alone. It doesn’t require my energy and there’s no expectations within it. At least that’s what it tells me – that’s what I tell me.

I want to encourage you dear Mama that when you are feeling like this to put your arms out for calibration and balance, reach out to your close friends and seek time with them, be brave & vulnerable and then press into what they have for you. Let them remind you of your goodness, share your stories with them, see yourself from their perspective and hear them tell you that you are strong and that you are not alone. Borrow their energy until you are feeling a little clearer.

Motherhood can feel like a lot, being human can feel like a lot, and we are made to do it together. I truly believe in (and have experienced) the healing nature of friendships that are deep and honest and true.

Please don’t allow yourself to struggle or feel overwhelmed alone. Your little bubble will pretend it’s the safest place for you, but your bubble doesn’t allow you the simplest & most profound human requirement and that’s connection.

P.s There are absolutely times to protect your energy and to limit what you do and who you see, within this, remind yourself that people can help us heal too. Surround yourself with friends that will cheer for you and give you your safe space to flourish even in the hardest times.
